Lantana Of Texas Recipes

Lantana of Texas is an all purpose seasoning that may be used on any food that you would normally use salt and pepper.

If sprinkled on meats and covered a few hours before cooking, it will not only flavor, but work to tenderize the toughest cut. DO NOT USE SALT AND PEPPER WITH LANTANA.

LANTANA STUFFING

  • 2 pkg Corn bread mix
  • 1 lb. Bulk Pork Sausage
  • 4 plain white bread (slices)
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 2 clove (large) garlic
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery & leaves
  • 1 tbl. Poultry seasoning
  • 6 small mushrooms, fresh or 1 jar sliced
  • 3 tbls. Lantana
  • 1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 2 1/2 cups Chicken Broth

Prepare corn bread mix as directed on pkg. Let cool and crumble in large bowl. Pan saute pork sausage and add onion and garlic, cool and add to corn bread. Crumble plain white bread, add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly.
If using a 12 lb. Turkey, wash thoroughly baste with butter and sprinkle with Lantana and let sit overnight. Place stuffing inside turkey and place in shallow pan in a oven set at 325 degrees. Bake for 4 hours.
If not using a turkey, saute sausage, onion, garlic, celery and mushrooms before adding to cornbread mixture. Place in a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish and bake 45 min. at 350 degrees.

LANTANA EGGS

Sift scramble as many eggs as you desire with butter or Pam, then sprinkle on LANTANA for a most unusual taste.

Try the same with fried eggs. 

LANTANA STEAK OR HAMBURGER

Season both sides of meat with LANTANA as you would with salt and pepper. 

Broil on both sides until desired amount of cooking is acquired. 

LANTANA BEANS

  • 1 Two pound bag of pinto beans
  • 2 tbl. Lantana all purpose seasoning
  • 2 Small ham hocks or 1 large ham hock
  • 1 bag Lantana Mexican Salsa/Mix Hot or Mild, your choice

Clean Beans. Pick out broken or half beans and remove all rock, sticks, etc. Rinse beans at least 3 times. Add water, at least 4 inches over beans. Add 2 tbl. Of all purpose seasoning. Allow beans to set in seasoned water at least 8 hours. Do not pour seasoned water off beans. Add additional water, at least 4 inches over beans. Bring to a brisk boil, be careful not to scorch beans. Reduce heat gradually to a medium boil. Cook for about 3 hours and add ham hocks. Beans will need to cook for about 5 to 7 hours, until tender not hard or mushy. 45 minutes to 1 hour before beans are done add salsa mix. Maintain 3 to 4 inches of water over beans. You will need to add water 2 or 3 times during cooking. If beans are to soupy to your taste do not add water the last hour or so.

You may decide to add more all purpose seasoning, but do not do so until after you add salsa mix.

LANTANA SPECIAL OCCASION CHEESE SPREAD

  • 28 oz. Philadelphia Cream Cheese
  • 2 oz. Blue Cheese Crumbles
  • 4 oz. Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 2 tbls. Minced Onion (flakes)
  • 3 tbls. Olive w/Pimentos
  • 1 tbl. Worcesterhire
  • 2 tbls. Lantana of Texas

Cream Philadelphia Cream Cheese and Blue Cheese crumbles. Add grated Cheddar Cheese. Add remaining ingredients in order and blend thoroughly. You can make a ball or a mound on a bowl or platter. Surround with favorite crackers and sprinkle with Lantana of Texas for extra flavor and color.

LANTANA DEVILED EGGS

  • 1 Doz. Eggs Hardboiled
  • 1 1/2 tbls. Pickle Relish
  • 2 tbls. Chopped Pimentos or Olive w/Pimentos
  • 1 tbls. Chopped Onions
  • 1 1/2 tp. Celery seed or Celery chopped fine
  • 1/2 cup Mayonaise or Salad Dressing
  • 1 tps. French prepared Mustard

Half whole eggs and mash yolks with fork. Add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly. Place mixture into half eggs. Sprinkle with Lantana.

LANTANA FRIED MUSHROOMS

  • 1 16 oz. Pkg. Mushrooms
  • 1 can Progresso Italian Bread Crumbs
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tbl. Lantana
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 egg beaten w/4tbls. Water

Clean Mushrooms, toss with Lantana and flour and coat well. Dip in egg mixture, then bread crumbs w/parmesan cheese. Deep fry until brown.

Sauce

  • 1 16 oz. Sour Cream
  • 1 tbl. Lantana
  • 1 tbls Cream Horse-radish

Blends Well

LANTANA FAJITAS 

Sprinkle LANTANA liberally to both sides of meat. Let the meat set for at least 20 to 30 minutes before cooking.

Cook on a grill or Bar-B-Que pit medium high flame for at least 12 minutes on each side.

When done, cut the fajitas into bite-size chunks and serve.

For an extra treat, wrap a warm flour tortilla around chunks of fajitas, add a little melted cheese, refried beans, diced tomatoes and onion, and you will have a complete meal.
